After completing a Post Graduate Course at Hornsey College of Art in London, in 1967, I was invited to join the publishing group of Hutchinson as a book cover designer. In 1969 I moved to Michael Joseph publishers to design books and book jackets and assist in advertising and publicity. In 1979 I was offered a position in a small agency, Aardvark Advertising, in Bermuda. The agency is a full service company and has given me grounding in writing radio, producing logos and brochures, storyboarding TV and producing newspaper and advertising for magazines. As the company grew in accounts and personnel, I was elected to become a board member. As senior designer I worked on accounts including Bank of Bermuda HSBC, Bacardi, Bermuda Tourism, Bermuda National Gallery and Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.
In the mid nineties I designed and patented the Bermuda triangle jigsaw puzzle which is sold in Bermuda. www.bermudatrianglepuzzle.com
In June 2008, after 29 years in Bermuda, I retired with my artist wife Linda www.lindavickersanimalartist.com to Burnsville, North Carolina to a more relaxed way of living, but still keeping up with the design trends and new innovations in software.
I have put together a photographic website of Bermuda www.imagesofbermuda.com, an interactive jigsaw puzzle site www.puzzolor.com and enjoying photographing the local wildlife and events, an ongoing project in North Carolina www.imagesofnorthcarolina.com.
I have produced and exhibited some work in mixed media using picture windows and objects to create “a view from within”.
Since moving we have become members of BRAG (Blue Ridge Fine Art Guild) and The Yancey Chamber of Commerce and participate in offering our services in art programs and charity events I was on the Toe River Arts Council, The Burnsville Art Board and both my wife were on the Yancey History Association for 3 years before deciding to focus on our own projects.
